Hard work these conferences

Yes indeed, from the moment I arrived on Pantelleria, life has been pretty hard on me. It was about diner time, so we went to this typical Pantellerian restaurant where I had a marvelous pizza with (multiple) glasses of superb white wine. Apparently, there are white wines I actually like :-)!

The day after (so that was already yesterday) … same story but this time with a spaghetti with fresh octopus. What else? Well, I made a tour around the island which really astonished me. My very first impression of Pantelleria wasn’t such a positive one: a windy, chilly rather flat piece of rock which also had a lot of tragic stories to tell. As Lampedusa wasn’t coping with the Libian and Tunesian refugees any longer, some boats went directly to Pantelleria … from where they were immediately deported. It really makes me feel uncomfortable about the life I am leading here. I am stressing out for a bloody presentation on a stupid conference … what does it matter in the end? It makes all our little daily worries melt away like it’s nothing.

Anyway, I don’t want to depress you people! Enjoy some of the pictures I already took.

Panda's, the only usable cars on Pantelleria :). This one only had one wing mirror, beeping breaks and a broken speed indicator

One top of the Montagna Grande ... yes, I was wrong, there are mountains. This bump measured about 900m. Not bad for a tiny island.

And the roadtrip continued ...

.... along the lake you have just seen from the mountain.

I always had a thing with roofs, here's the roof of my hotel.

That's all folks!

Buona notte,

Tanti bacci,
